Landpower Essay Contest

The goal of the USAWC Strategic Landpower Essay Contest is to stimulate critical and original thinking on the strategic role of land power in modern warfare not only among the students and faculty at Carlisle Barracks, but also throughout the U.S. Army and the nation. Topics must be related to "the advancement of professional knowledge of the strategic role of land power in joint and multinational operations".  The Commandant selects the best essay meeting established criteria as the award winner. This fund is endowed and will provide the College with the funds to advertise the contest to a wider base, increase in monetary award and assure publication of the winning essay.  This puts the Strategic Landpower Essay Contest on par with writing contests in other academic institutions, and brings honor to the US Army War College.  Bringing this essay contest to a higher level of competition encourages the college's vision as set forth in the USAWC curriculum, to be "the most prestigious institution for the education of strategic leaders and for the study of the development and employment of land power in a joint, interagency and multinational environment."
